Welcome to my website.
I am a mixed media artist with a life-long fondness for textiles. Inherited, I believe, from my maternal grandmother who made all her own clothes and worked as a seamstress.
My studio is located in our garden and my inspiration comes from the natural world in all its wonderous forms, colours and sounds. I relish using text wherever possible and enjoy creating short pieces of prose. This is achieved by piecing together random words selected from newspapers and magazines.
I also work with found and unwanted materials wherever possible. I have been known to disassemble a silk wedding dress and dye the fabric. My own stock of fabrics gathered over the years often provides just the right piece at the right time. Auctions, charity shops and jumble sales can find me adding to my stock if I see something I feel is worthy of being reconfigured or given a new lease of life in another form.
I attend some local markets with my trusty sewing machine where I do a “repair, renew, mend and patch” service. Encouraging the upcycling and reuse of textiles wherever possible. I make my own patches too.
